National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness

Designated by President Ronald Reagan in 1983, November 01 launches this critical campaign confronting neurodegenerative decline. Fewer than two million Americans battled this diagnosis initially; today, over seven million individuals grapple with symptoms nationwide. Among Elderly populations, roughly one in nine people beyond age 65 develop this cognitive condition, though alarmingly, only one-quarter receive proper diagnosis. Alzheimer's accounts for sixty to eighty percent of dementia cases overall, destroying neural pathways governing memory and reasoning. Beyond patients themselves, over eleven million unpaid caregivers shoulder profound emotional and financial burdens. Throughout the United States, communities organize memory walks, screening programs, and educational symposiums, fostering earlier intervention and compassionate support networks nationwide.
