Lung Cancer Awareness Month

Observed globally each November 01, this critical campaign confronts humanity's deadliest malignancy. Lung cancer claims more lives than colorectal, breast, and pancreatic cancers combined, with roughly 226,650 new diagnoses projected annually in the United States alone. This dedicated Awareness initiative emphasizes low-dose computed tomography screening, since symptoms typically manifest only after advanced progression. Among fatal respiratory Diseases, smoking remains the predominant catalyst, though radon exposure, asbestos, and occupational carcinogens contribute substantially. Persistent stigma unfortunately overshadows crucial reality: anyone possessing lungs faces vulnerability, regardless of smoking history. Throughout the International medical community, researchers advocate proactive screening, early intervention, and dismantling misconceptions surrounding this pervasive, often silently progressing disease.
